Arts and Crafts Time!

On this page I will be sharing my non costume related artwork, and any crafts I happen to be working on.

Handbags!

My latest projects are these handmade handbags.  They measure 6"x6"x 2'.  This one is made from an Alexander Henry print of Cinco de Mayo themed pin-up girls.  The interior is green satin, and includes a pocket. The grommets and chain are brass.

Ganesh

I decided that it was time to learn how to do oil paintings.  My good friend Lindsay, who is an excellent art teacher, agreed to teach me the proper techniques for working in this medium.  For the subject matter, I chose the Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.  Using Renaissance techniques, I first did a grey scale under-painting in acrylics, followed by a layer of oils in complementary colors, and then the final colors.  The final oil painting has great warmth and depth because of this technique.

Wire Work Jewelry

One of my hobbies is making chain maille bracelets and wire work jewelry.  One of my most recent projects is this paisley pendant.  It is made of hammered wire swirls that are then wrapped in a smaller gauge wire.
