What Does a Collection Manager Do Anyway?

As many of you know, I have been taking an online program in Costumes and Textiles Collection Management though CSU Long Beach.  I am working towards getting a certificate in this subject that will allow me to not only expand my skill set, but to work in a wider variety of places.  The most common place for a collection manager to work, is of course, a museum.  The following link is to an article on the American Association of Museums website called "A Day in the Life."  This article was assigned reading in one of my classes, and while it does not explain exactly what I hope to be doing, it will give you an idea of the kind of things my classes cover.  Personally, I find this subject very interesting and will be adding a page into my webiste that deals with these topics in case any of you want to learn more.

A Big Congrats! to St. Mary's High School

So the sad news is that we did not win an Elly for Best Costume Design for Once in a Lifetime, but the great news is that Fiddler on the Roof won for Best Overall Production of a Musical in the education category!  Everyone's hard work really paid off and we would not have won if the costuming, set design, choreography, acting, and directing hadn't all worked so beautifully together to create such a memorable show.  (Sunday, September 16, 2012)

This Just In:  The Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance has Announced the Nominations for this year's Elly Awards.

The Elly Awards are coming up soon!

Between St. Mary's High School's two productions, they were nominated for 8 Elly Awards this year including for Best Costume Design (DiAnne Bowe and Traci LaDue), for Once In A Lifetime, and for Best Production for both Once in a Lifetime, and Fiddler on the Roof.   Congratulations are in order for the many talented students and professionals who made these  productions possible.  You all deserve this!

It's Time! The Zombie Apocalypse Is at Hand!

seat of your pants Productions presents the LA premiere of GEEKS VS ZOMBIES, a play by James Kopp and David Rock.

Four geeks have survived the initial onsluaght of the zombie apocalypse and continue to survive based on their knowledge of all things zombie. They find themselves in an abandoned civil war fort where they run into another group of survivors... but not quite the geeks they are.

As the fort is surrounded by zombies and the zombies start to get into the fort, the geeks must decide what their next step is. Everyone knows that when two groups join up in a zombie movie, it means people are going to die. Do the geeks abandon these new people, kill them, or what? In this new world of zombies, the geek is king and these new people could destroy all that.

After enjoying two successful runs in Bakersfield, this show is being brought to Los Angeles for the first time for a six week run at The Ruby Theater @ The Complex in Hollywood. This production will be directed by John Morrison.
